About our town

Historic Ringwood

Ringwood has a long and fascinating history. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and retains many features of interest. There is a potted history of the town composed by Tony White here. The historic map of 1872 pictured here illustrates quite how much the town has grown in recent decades. Today, much of the town centre is protected as a conservation area. The map here shows the precise extent of this.
