Accessibility statement for www.ringwood.gov.uk

This website is run by Ringwood Town Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, you should be able to:

• change colours, contrast levels and fonts
• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the website using a keyboard
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Accessibilty of this website 

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

• some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
• some pages do not include a “skip to main content” function
• live video streams do not include captions

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA standard due to the issues listed above. We are aware that some content may not yet meet accessibility standards and are working to address this where reasonably practicable.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are working with our web provider to improve accessibility across the website. This includes:

• reviewing page templates and navigation
• improving document accessibility
• addressing known technical issues where possible

Accessibility is reviewed periodically as part of the Council’s ongoing website and governance arrangements.

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed here or think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us and ask for the matter to be referred to the Town Clerk.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Content not within scope

Some older PDF and Word documents may not be fully accessible, particularly those published before 23 September 2018, where they are not essential to providing our services.

Where accessible versions are required, please contact us and we will provide the information in an alternative format.

Any new documents published by the Council will aim to meet accessibility standards.

Live video streams are exempt from the accessibility regulations and may not include captions.
