Remembrance is part of modern British life, culture and heritage.
Over the Remembrance period there are a number of commemorative services that take place for the people of Ringwood to come together to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.
Commemorative events take place in November starting with a service at the Commonwealth War Graves in Ringwood Cemetery on Saturday 7th November 2026, gathering at 10:45am. Poppy crosses are laid on the graves of service personnel whose last resting place was Ringwood.
On Sunday 8th November 2026 - Remembrance Sunday, various services are due to take place around the town after which a parade will gather in Market Place, by the Parish church at 1130am. The procession will walk to the War Memorial Garden opposite Greyfriars Community Centre where a short service will take place, followed by the formal Act of Remembrance at 12 noon. This will include a formal wreath-laying ceremony. The procession will then walk back to Market Place.
On Armistice Day, Wednesday 11th November 2026, a service will take place at the War Memorial Garden at 10:45am when a National 2 Minute Silence will be observed at 11am. In accordance with local tradition, the start and end of the silence will be marked by the firing of a maroon generating a loud bang heard around the town.
