Remembrance is part of modern British life, culture and heritage.
Over the Remembrance period there are a number of commemorative services that take place for the people of Ringwood to come together to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.
A ceremony for the 81st Anniversary of D-Day will be held at the Normandy Veterans Memorial in the Parish Church grounds on 6th June 2025 at 11am. All are welcome.
The 80th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan) takes place on Friday 15 August 2025, commemorating the end of the Second World War. Ringwood Town Council are looking to mark this anniversary with a service at the War Memorial Gardens - further details to follow.
Commemorative events will take place in November and will start with a service at the Commonwealth War Graves in Ringwood Cemetery (Date and time TBC). Poppy crosses will laid on the graves of service personnel whose last resting place is Ringwood.
On Sunday 9th November 2025, Remembrance Sunday, various services will take place around the town after which a parade will gather in Market Place at 1130am. The procession will walk to the War Memorial Garden where a short service will take place, followed by the formal Act of Remembrance at 12 noon. There will be a formal wreath-laying ceremony and a procession back to Market Place.
On Armistice Day, Tuesday 11th November 2025, a service will place at the War Memorial Garden at 10:45am when a National 2 Minute Silence will be observed at 11am. In accordance with local tradition, the start and end of the silence will be marked by the firing of a maroon generating a loud bang heard around the town.

The Council has made the difficult decision to suspend cricket bookings at Carvers Recreation Ground from the end of the current season. This decision follows a comprehensive review of the facility’s usage, associated costs, and the overall benefit to the local community.

At our meeting on 30 April 2025, the Town Mayor presented grant aid certificates to four local organisations, recognising a total of £2,300 in support. A new round of grant applications opens in September.
