On Saturday 16th September, Ringwood held it’s 68th Carnival.

Although there were a few showers during the day, this did not dampen the spirits of all those participating or the spectactors standing by watching the wonderful parades.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Ringwood, Cllr Tim Ward and Mrs Jane Ward led the afternoon Carnival Procession in a steam driven car, leaving Parkside Industrial Estate at 2pm and travelling into the town centre.

Cllr Ward said “It was a magical experience and a first for me to travel in such a wonderful vehicle and it was a great privilege to be involved”.

The procession was repeated at 7.15pm as the evening drew in and the full benefit of the lights on the various Carnival floats was an added benefit to the festivities.

The Carnival Committee and all the volunteers are to be congratulated for all their hard work and time to make this such an outstanding event.

A special thanks also goes out to all the people and organisations who work so hard to create the amazing floats and costumes.

The organisers are always grateful for more willing volunteers to help continue their wonderful work and they can be contacted via their website www.ringwoodcarnival.org
