New Forest District Council is inviting residents to share their views on early proposals for its new Local Plan, a key document that will guide how the district grows and develops over the coming years.
The Local Plan will shape major issues affecting communities across the district, including the provision of housing, employment opportunities, transport infrastructure and environmental protection.
As part of the early consultation, the District Council has identified a suggested additional site for housing south of Moortown Lane in Ringwood which could accommodate up to 250 new dwellings. Local authorities are required by Government to identify sufficient suitable land to meet housing targets, and this stage of consultation seeks residents’ input before proposals progress further.
Residents in Ringwood and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to learn more and ask questions at a public drop-in event:
Friday 27 February, 1pm to 7pm
Ringwood Gateway
Members of the public can attend at any time during the session to view information, speak with representatives and share their feedback.
The consultation period runs from 6 February to 20 March 2026. Feedback gathered during this stage will help shape the draft Local Plan and influence how the area develops in the future.
Residents can also review the proposals and submit comments online via the District Council’s website: https://newforest.gov.uk/localplan
All residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to take part to ensure local views are reflected as plans move forward.
