Following a very successful outdoor meeting in 2015 Ringwood Town Council will be holding its second such meeting on Wednesday 27th July at 7pm in The Gateway Square of Ringwood.

Last year the agenda items were selected as being the most contentious issues which local residents might want a say on and this year will be no different. With over 1000 houses planned for Ringwood over the next 20 year town councillors will be allowing residents to air their concerns at this meeting.

Mayor of Ringwood Councillor Michael Thierry said ‘as councillors, we must understand the needs of our residents and I can think of no better way of consulting with people than to make this meeting as open as possible’.

The open air meeting in 2015 is thought to be the first of its kind in England and the weather was in the council’s favour, a Public Address system was used to ensure residents and councillors could be heard and listened to.

The first part of the meeting will be a standard Full Council meeting followed by a Public Open Forum which will be chaired by the Mayor and where people may ask questions or raise concerns.

There has been some interest from other councils about this type of event and it is hoped the weather will shine on the meeting this year, although a wet weather programme has also been arranged to accommodate more residents into the council chamber.
