Ringwood Town Council, with great regret, have announced that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the hugely popular annual Christmas in Ringwood event that had been planned for Sunday 29th November has been cancelled.

The scale of the event had already been significantly reduced from its original format including fairground, live street entertainment, Santa’s Grotto and the formal lights switch-on.

But we had hoped that we could continue with the Market which, with almost 40 stalls already booked on, would have been the largest Christmas market in the town for many years.

Concerns were raised when several other Christmas Markets in the local area had cancelled leaving Ringwood as one of the only larger markets going ahead.

This meant that the event could have been ‘over-successful’ in terms of numbers attending which was a cause for concern in the current circumstances.

Despite this setback, Christmas in Ringwood is most definitely NOT cancelled.

All shops and business in Ringwood (not just the Town centre) will be invited to take part in Ringwood’s own Winter Wanderland.

This involves decorating their own premises and displaying something in their shop fronts that would not normally be associated with their business.

Competitions will be held to decide on the best displays and to spot the “unusual item”, the intention being to encourage people to come into town and spend their money supporting local businesses.

Details will be added here shortly- watch this space!

Stall holders

An email was sent out to all stallholders who had booked or expressed an interest in booking a stall at the event on 13th October.

This explains the refund process for all those who have paid for their stall.

If this applies to you, please check your inbox (and junk folder) and if you have not received it please email Charmaine.bennett@ringwood.gov.uk
