Gateway building progresses on target

Gateway BuildingThe construction of the eagerly-awaited Ringwood Gateway building is on schedule and is starting to take shape following the erection of the main timber frame.

Works on site are progressing well and work has already started on the external brickwork. The roof of the building will be finished with slate tiles.

The innovative and cost-efficient scheme is due to complete in spring 2012.

At the heart of Ringwood, the Ringwood Gateway will bring together a number of local services provided by Ringwood Town Council, New Forest District Council and Hampshire County Council under one roof. It will also provide new public conveniences, visitor information and a ceremonies facility as part of the County Council’s Registration Service.

Gateway BuildingCouncillor Edward Heron, chairman of the project board and deputy leader of New Forest District Council, said: “Seeing the timber frame up is an exciting milestone in the project. Soon, people will be able to access a number of local council services from a single, high quality building in the heart of Ringwood.”
