Exciting plans to reshape the town’s youth service and the management of “The Place” at Carvers Recreation Ground were announced today.

There will be a new emphasis on providing a facility that attracts all young people with opportunities to socialize, relax, engage in sport or other recreational activities and access specialist help and services.

Although remaining primarily a facility for young people, The Place will also expand its offering to the wider community.

Cllr Tim Ward, Town Mayor of Ringwood, said “We want to provide the service that local young people asked for and support those who need extra help.

Over the next few weeks, we will be looking to recruit a new manager for the facility and a new lead youth worker.

Sadly, this means we will be parting company with Jenny Critchlow, who has been our youth coordinator for the last five years (and leading youth work in the town for many years before that).

On behalf of the people of Ringwood, I would like to thank Jenny and her husband for all that they have done for local young people and wish them all the best for the future.”
