OS/5329 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting held on 2nd November 2011, having been circulated, be approved and signed as a correct record.
OS/5330 ASH GROVE PLAY AREA
Members noted that work began on site on 23rd January; residents had been kept well informed and there had been no complaints. New Forest District Council had carried out some works to clear the ditch, but this had yet to be completed. Work was progressing well on the play area, although it had been necessary to purchase some turf on which to lay the new safety matting. It was hoped that work would be completed by Friday 10th February; an opening date had yet to be agreed.
Ringwood Junior School had been invited to suggest a new name for the play area, but the children had not been able to think of any suitable names. The possibility of renaming the play area the “Diamond Jubilee Park” or “Jubilee Play Park” was considered, but as there is already a Jubilee Gardens in the town, this was not considered appropriate.
RESOLVED:
1) That the progress report be noted; and
2) That no change be made to the name and it continue to be known as ‘Ash Grove Play Area’.
OS/5331 LAND ADJOINING 13 FROBISHER CLOSE
A request had been made by the resident at 13 Frobisher Close to buy an adjoining piece of open space (part of The Mount), to enable her to build an extension suitable for disability living. Maps showing the location of the property in relation to the Mount were circulated at the Meeting.
Whilst full details of the extent of land required were not known, Members did not believe it would be appropriate to dispose of valuable open space in this area. In addition, any incursion into the open space in this area would create difficulties for future maintenance of the land retained and set a precedent for similar requests in the future.
RESOLVED: That the request by the owner of 13 Frobisher Close, Ringwood, to purchase land on the Mount be refused.
OS/5332 TOMBS IN RINGWOOD CHURCHYARD
The Town Clerk reported that progress with tree works and remedial works to the tombs had been delayed due to difficulties obtaining responses from the District Council about the proposed works.
RESOLVED: That the position be noted and Cllr Rippon-Swaine be provided with details of the reasons for the delays.
