P/4574 Minutes of Previous Meeting

That the Minutes of the Meeting held on 18 July 2008, having been circulated, be approved and signed as a correct record.

Members agreed to take Agenda Items 3, 4 and 5 prior to Item 2 (Planning Applications).

P/4575 Proposed Development of Land Adjoining the Furlong Centre

All members present had been at an informal meeting at 11am on 15 August 2008 with the Furlong Development team, and New Forest District Council’s Head of Planning, Chris Elliott. At this meeting, feedback was given on the objections raised by Members regarding the proposed mixed use development (Planning Application Numbers 08/92208, 08/92193 and 08/92195 refer) and Members were given the opportunity to ask further questions. It was noted that the Town Council’s main concerns appear to have been addressed.

RESOLVED: That the forthcoming formal amended planning application be considered in September/October, in the light of the new information provided.

P/4576 Planning Appeal

It was noted that Mr T Spender had submitted an Appeal against New Forest District Council’s decision to refuse Planning Application Number 07/91190 for use of land adjacent 32 Kingsfield as domestic garden. Members were still of the opinion that Mr Spender should cease use of the land for residential purposes and return it to an area of open space, as originally designated, for the benefit of local residents in the area.

RESOLVED: That the Deputy Clerk make written representation to the Planning Inspectorate to reinforce the Town Council’s objection to any change of use on this site.

P/4577 Replacement Telecommunications Monopole

With regard to the formal Planning Application Number 08/92716 – for a replacement telecommunications monopole, at rear of Unit 6, Stag Business Park, Christchurch Road, Members had considered a pre-application submission on 20 June when no objection was raised (P/4568 refers).

It was noted that, due to timescales involved, with the Chairman’s agreement, a formal comment of “no objection” had already be submitted to New Forest District Council for this application.

RESOLVED: That the formal comment already made of “no objection” to Planning Application Number 08/92716 be approved.

P/4578 Planning Applications

Members considered planning applications in respect of periods ending 15 July, 22 July, 29 July and 6 August 2008.

RESOLVED: That the observations summarised in Annex ‘A’ be submitted.

There being no further business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 3.50pm.
