P/4437 Absence
Apologies for absence had been received from Cllr N J Chard, as he was attending the District Council’s Standards Committee, Cllr D E Cracknell and Cllr M F Daly.

P/4438 Declarations of Interest

There were none.

P/4439 Minutes of Previous Meeting

RESOLVED:  That the minutes of the meeting held on 2nd March 2007, having been circulated, be approved and signed as a correct record.

P/4440 Regional Housing Strategy Review 2007

Members considered consultation on revision of the Regional Housing Strategy from the South East England Regional Housing Board.

RESOLVED: That the Deputy Town Clerk, in liaison with the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Committee, be authorised to respond to the consultation.

P/4441 Traffic Management

Members noted that the next Informal Local Members’ Liaison Meeting had been arranged for 13th April 2007, primarily to discuss comments received on the proposed waiting restrictions for Bickerley Road and initial proposals for the High Street. It was also noted that no reply had been received to the Town Clerk’s letter of 31st January 2007 to the Economy & Planning Portfolio Holder regarding Traffic Regulation Orders, and that there was no mention of Kings Arms Lane in the approved Traffic Management Programme for 2007/08.

RESOLVED:

1) That the District Council be requested to include the following items on the agenda for the Informal Local Members’ Liaison Meeting to be held on 13th April 2007:

· Kings Arms Lane
· Implementation of Traffic Management Programme

2) That Cllrs Cole and Daly be invited to attend the meeting.

P/4442 Speed Indicator Device

The Deputy Town Clerk reported that she had received notification from the District Council that, at the request of a resident of Southampton Road, the SID task group had agreed to deploy a SID in Southampton Road, although the exact location was still to be determined. Members believed that there were already sufficient traffic management measures in place in Southampton Road and it was therefore

RESOLVED: That the proposed deployment of a SID in Southampton Road be not supported.

P/4443 Improving Accessibility in Hampshire

Cllr Clarke reported that, due to other commitments, he had been unable to attend this conference on 21st March 2007. However, he reported that one of the aims of the conference had been to consider alternative means of providing accessibility, to find out the true nature of demand and existing capability and to look at ways forward to meet the demand.

RESOLVED: That Cllr Clarke’s report be noted.

P/4444 Planning Applications Considered

Planning applications in respect of periods ending 28th February and 7th, 14th & 21st March 2007 were considered.

RESOLVED: That the observations as shown in Annex ‘A’ be submitted.

The Chairman closed the meeting at 3.20pm.
