Draft Ringwood Town Acccess Plan

The Ringwood Town Access Plan has been developed by Hampshire County Council in partnership with New Forest District and Ringwood Town Council, its aim is to improve access to facilities and services within the town.

The draft Plan puts forward a set of proposals and schemes which aim to:

  • Improve accessibility throughout Ringwood by all sustainable modes of transport, notably walking, cycles and public transport;
  • Enhance Ringwood as an important centre to live, work and visit;
  • Support the local economy by providing improved transport infrastructure;
  • Promote social inclusion and access for all;
  • Integrate transport proposals with land use development, and
  • Reduce the adverse impact of traffic

Previous Consultation

Between 2002 and 2004 a series of Community Street Audits (CSAs) were jointly carried out by Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council and Ringwood Town Council. The CSAs involved a group of community representatives walking selected routes in the town and commenting on barriers to access and movement from the perspective of different users. These have since been refreshed and the information gathered from these initial audits was used to help develop the former Walking and Cycling strategy and now the draft Ringwood Town Access Plan.
