To mark the historic event of Her Majesty The Queen celebrating sixty years on the throne, only the second monarch to do so, Ringwood Town Council has invited community groups and individuals within the town to join with it to plan and implement celebrations over the weekend of the 2nd-5th June 2012.
“We believe that Her Majesty has given wonderful service to the people of this country and it is right and fitting that the people in Ringwood, and indeed throughout the country, should have the opportunity to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.
We are delighted that the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Lions Club have already offered to take a leading role in the event.” said Cllr Christine Ford, former Mayor of the town, and one of the Councillors to join with Councillors Angela Wiseman and Barbara Woodifield to represent the Town Council at meetings with groups of individuals wishing to be involved in the celebrations.
The Council has allocated funding for the event and has written to a large number of local organisations inviting them to take part in planning the celebrations.
It is hoped any organisations who did not receive a direct communication from the Council and individuals who are interested in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations should contact the Town Council to be co-involved in this major community event in the town.
