For the Young with Little Time and the Elderly with Little Appetities

The average size of Ringwood Town Council’s allotments is approximately 20 metres by 6 metres.
For people with time and large appetites, plots of that size are ideal.
But, for many, their busy family and work lives mean they simply do not have time to spend on an allotment of that size.
For others, the plots are simply too big for their needs.
As a new initiative and to meet the needs of these two groups, the Town Council is now offering ‘mini allotments’ at its site at Hightown Road.
“These mini allotments are specifically designed for the busy young family man who simply does not have time to cultivate a full plot or for the more elderly who have smaller appetites and do not need to grow as many vegetables,” said Councillor Brian Terry, Chairman of the Recreation Committee.
“The plots measure 6 metres by 4 metres, hardly very small, but large enough to enable a good crop of Spring and Summer vegetables. We currently have 66 Ringwood residents on our waiting list and all of the allotments will initially be offered to those residents at the top of the list.”
