“We are delighted”, said Councillor Brian Terry, the Town Mayor for Ringwood, “that our local District and County Councillors are using the funds that they are allowed to allocate for local projects to such worthy causes in the town.
On the Bickerley, there has been a long standing need for a new seat and Councillor Mrs Ford’s decision to allocate her funds for the new seat alongside the footpath is very welcome.
After the closure of Belinda’s Drop-In Centre, it was given a new home in the former tennis pavilion on Carver’s Recreation Ground.
We have previously carried out improvements to that building, but much more was needed.
It is, therefore, very pleasing that County Councillor Nigel Clarke has allocated over £2,000 to refurbishing the toilets in that building and District Councillors Jeremy Heron and Steve Rippon-Swaine have allocated their funds to internal insulation and security improvements.
If the Town Council’s top-up contributions are added to all of these projects, the total spend in the town for the direct benefit of local residents is over £4,000. We hope the young and old alike get great pleasure from this expenditure.”
