Police today named the young man who died when his car was in collision with a bus on the A338 just before 7am Saturday, September 27.
He is Andrew Peter Callis, 25, of Kingfisher Way, Ringwood.
Mr Callis was southbound on the A338 from Fordingbridge to Ringwood in fog when he was in collision head-on with a double decker bus travelling in the opposite direction. He died at the scene.
The bus driver, a 41-year-old man from Verwood, Dorset, received serious back injuries.
Two passengers, a 51-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Ringwood, received minor injuries and were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Operation Alvine at Totton Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 45 45 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
Today, Mr Callis’s family released the following statement:
“It is with great sorrow that Pete and Angie Callis of Ringwood announce the sudden and untimely loss of their life loving son, Andrew, aged 25, in the tragic road incident on the A338 on the morning of Saturday, September 27.
“His beaming smile will be greatly missed by all the family, his girlfriend and all friends.
“The family would appreciate being left to their thoughts and grief. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.”
