After the official launch of Ringwood Town Plan and Strategic Implementation Strategy, Councillor Brian Terry, the Town Mayor and Chairman of the Committee overseeing the project, said “two years of hard graft by dedicated Councillors and volunteers, a massive consultation exercise involving everyone in the town and, not least, the efforts of our staff, and we have at last a vision of Ringwood for the future, effectively driven and written by the people of Ringwood.”
“I am very proud to be Mayor at this time. Ringwood residents have produced what must be the most eco-friendly ‘green’ town plan published to date. Ringwood’s people have said they want homes for local people in the town, they want good jobs for local people in the town and they want good shops, entertainment, recreational walks and sports facilities in the town for local people.
Clearly, Ringwood residents want to continue to maintain the community spirit in the town by making it self-sufficient in all things that makes the town so special and with much less reliance on the motor car.”
“The Town Council will do its very best to work with all the residents and other agencies to deliver the Town Plan. We very much hope that residents will continue to be involved in projects, including the plan, and invite anyone interested to contact the Town Council. A leaflet explaining the main issues included in the Town Plan is being distributed to all households in the town by Royal Mail within the next two weeks. A full copy of the Town Plan (PDF File) is available on the Town Council’s web site. |
