A ‘Walk of Art’ designed and painted by pupils of Ringwood School was unveiled on Friday, June 27.
Safer Neighbourhoods officers in Ringwood have been working with Ringwood School to improve the appearance of an underpass in the town.
The tunnel which links Ringwood with Poulner via Gravel Lane has been given a make-over by the students.
Some existing artwork has also been restored with the supervision of their teachers.
The Highways Agency, Ringwood Town Council and Police Partners have sponsored the purchasing of materials needed to create the ‘Walk of Art’, as it has become known. Balfour Beatty was also contracted by the Highways Agency to prepare the walls for painting.
Students began working on the project on Tuesday, June 17.
Police Constable Keith Waller of Ringwood police station said: “This has been a successful project and the students have worked really hard.
The artwork brightens up the underpass making it a more pleasant area for the community.
“It is always encouraging when young people have pride in the area they live in and get involved in local projects.”
Mr Pigott, Head of Art at Ringwood School said: “It has been great to have the opportunity to work outside of the classroom and the commitment and response from the students has been excellent.” |
