Unlike the Parish Council on the programme Vicar of Dibley, the Town Council does encourage public involvement in its affairs.
In yet another step in that direction, the Town Council has agreed to allow the public to speak on individual items during the course of all of its meetings.
‘When I was last on the Council four years ago, we really didn’t involve the public in our decision-making processes’ said Councillor Jeremy Heron, Chairman of Policy & Finance Committee. ‘On my re-election in May, I was delighted to see much greater public involvement in our affairs and at my first full meeting a report explaining how the public could be even more involved in decisions that affect the town and its residents. The Council has come a long way in four years and I am hoping that this new initiative, which was endorsed by every Councillor, will help us to provide better services for the Ringwood public and importantly services that the public do want. The ball is now in the residents’ court and we look forward to meeting residents at our meetings.’
A copy of the full scheme of public participation is on our website and hard copies are available from the office.
