Police in Ringwood are joining forces with local publicans to re-launch the Pub Watch scheme, which is aimed at reducing alcohol-related crime and disorder.
The new Pub Watch Scheme includes pubs in Poulner and Hightown, as well as those in the town centre.
Officers will be taking a robust approach to dealing with a small minority of individuals responsible for violent and anti-social behaviour.
Pub Watch will also enable officers to issue bans and exclusion orders to people who commit criminal offences on or near licensed premises.
All members of the scheme agree to ban anyone responsible for an assault or public order offence within, or in close proximity of any of the licensed premises.
Where evidence exists that will support an application for an exclusion order from licensed premises police will make the necessary application at Magistrate’s Court.
Photographs of anyone who is banned will be provided to all members of the scheme to assist with identification. Licensees will refuse entry to anyone banned under the Pub Watch scheme.
Ringwood town beat officer, Police Constable Caroline Warren said: “The aim of the scheme is to help ensure that those who wish to enjoy a night out in Ringwood can do so without their evening being disrupted by disorderly behaviour. Working with the licensees of Ringwood we can take positive action against those responsible for disorderly and violent behaviour by banning them from all Ringwood pubs.
“We believe this scheme sends out a strong message to would-be trouble makers that anti-social and violent behaviour will not be tolerated in our town.” |
