| At last, says Councillor Brian Terry, Mayor of Ringwood, the negotiations are complete and Scotia Gas Networks can proceed to replace the ageing gas main in the High Street with the new main.
Discussions have been proceeding for a long time and the stumbling block of finding an alternative parking place for Wilts & Dorset buses during the daytime has been resolved following detailed discussions with the District Council.
When the gas main works commence on 14 January 2008 part of the long stay car park in Ringwood will be allocated for daytime parking of Wilts & Dorset buses.
The area will be barriered off throughout the day.
All buses will be moved between 5pm and 6pm through Meeting House Lane to the Wilts & Dorset depot in West Street and the lorry park will then be available for overnight lorry parking.
This has been a good result said Councillor Terry although it has taken rather longer to reach a satisfactory conclusion than we would have hoped.
There will be some disruption in the High Street over the six week period but the Town Council is very pleased that all issues have been resolved and the new gas main works can now be undertaken.
The Mayor is asking residents of the town to have patience while the work is being carried out. |
