‘Mindless, wanton vandalism'
‘Mindless, wanton vandalism’ says Town Mayor Councillor Danny Cracknell after inspecting the remnants of a commemorative tree planted in the War Memorial Gardens at Ringwood less than two years ago by the then Mayor, Councillor Michael Thierry with the President of the Royal British Legion Ringwood branch, Sid Slatter.

‘I am one of the biggest supporters of youth in the town’ continued Danny ‘and 99% of our youth are a credit to themselves, their families and the area but that 1% spoils it for everyone.  I appeal to anyone in the town who may have seen this happen to come forward.  I just don’t know how anyone can desecrate Gardens provided and maintained in memory of those who gave so much to this country’.

Councillor Norman Light, Chairman of the Recreation Committee, that maintains the Gardens reaffirmed that the tree will need to be replaced and whilst the cost of that is not great it will use money that was intended to be spent on improving other areas in the town.
