Who uses countryside paths in our parish?
Forest Path
Hampshire County Council has invited Town and Parish Councils to become involved in carrying out a ‘Parish Path Poll’, a one-day survey designed to find out who is using our local countryside paths, where they are going and why.

The survey aims to find out what local people want from their countryside and what they value about it.  For example, it may show that people are very satisfied with their local paths, or that some would like a stile replaced by a gate to make a route easier to use by the elderly and those with pushchairs or wheelchairs, or that people don’t really know where else they can go locally.

The Ringwood & Fordingbridge Footpath Society has agreed to assist both Ringwood and Fordingbridge Town Councils in carrying out the ‘Parish Path Poll’ on Sunday 25th June 2006.  The task will involve sitting alongside footpaths in the Ringwood and Fordingbridge areas, counting the number of users and filling in a simple questionnaire.  It is suggested that people work in pairs for two hour periods from 8am to 6pm.

If you have a couple of hours to spare on Sunday 25th June and you are interested in volunteering to help with the ‘Parish Path Poll’, please contact Jo Stannard at Ringwood Town Council on (01425) 473883 or Helen Tague at Fordingbridge Town Council on (01425) 654134.
