Tree Safety
As a responsible landowner, it is our duty to make sure that trees on our land do not cause a danger to users” said Cllr Norman Light in approving the acceptance of a tender from Banyards Ltd for tree surgery work at Ringwood Cemetery, Hightown Road and Dr Little Gardens.

The Town Council had commissioned Barrell Tree Consultancy to carry out a full tree survey of all of the Council’s sites to make sure that none of the trees would be a danger to the public.

Whilst the survey has shown that some work is required, none of the trees on the areas surveyed so far are a danger to users of the Council’s open spaces.

The total cost of the survey and tree works is estimated at £15,000. “The budget will be money well spent” said Cllr Light “and I am delighted that the Town Council is taking a very responsible attitude to ensuring that all of our sites are safe for everyone to use.

As a further precaution, Barrell Tree Care have also provided our staff with training so that they can carry out basic tree inspections and identify trees that are causing concern so that the professionals can be brought in to determine whether any action is required.

This process will further enhance the safe use of all of our sites.
