CCTV images after Ringwood handbag theft

Police in the New Forest have released these CCTV images, after an 88-year-old woman had her handbag snatched in a busy Ringwood supermarket.

Two men were caught on CCTV following the pensioner as she shopped in Waitrose supermarket in The Furlong Centre, Ringwood, between 4pm and 4.20pm on Tuesday, June 20.

When she wasn’t looking, they snatched her handbag, which contained £70 in cash, and left the store.

The first man is described as:
• White
• Slim build
• Fair hair
• Wearing dark sunglasses, white shirt, blue jeans and white trainers

The second man is described as:
• Shorter than the first man
• White
• Short dark hair
• Wearing a striped T shirt, grey/light brown trousers and brown shoes

PC Lawrence McKenna, based at Ringwood Police Station, said: “This theft happened on a busy afternoon in the middle of Ringwood. These men followed this woman for some time before snatching her bag and causing her considerable distress and worry. I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and recognises these men to come forward.”
