A refit for a fitting memorial to all those brave forces who gave their lives to ensure the freedom of the British people’ said Cllr Norman Light as he surveyed the refurbishment of the War Memorial in Ringwood carried out by Anthony Ives (Masonry) Ltd of Poole.

The memorial had started to show its age and Cllr Danny Cracknell, Mayor of Ringwood, echoed Cllr Light’s sentiments by reaffirming that he was delighted that the Town Council’s Recreation Committee had agreed to spend over £6,500 on the works, which also included an extension to the existing footpath to give easier access.

“We are very pleased” said Mr Sid Slatter, President of the local branch of the Royal

British Legion, “that the Town Council continues to honour those soldiers who gave their lives and congratulated the Town Council and its staff on the excellent standard of maintenance, of not only the War Memorial, but also the grounds itself.”
