Police in the New Forest have issued this e-fit of
a man who took part in a distraction burglary at the
home of an 81-year-old Ringwood man.
He was one of three men who called at the Harry Barrow
Close property shortly after 4pm on August 18 offering
to do gardening work.
While he engaged
the occupant in conversation at the front door, two
accomplices’ entered the property at the back.
Fortunately the man heard noises coming from inside
the house, and went in to investigate and found the
two accomplices’ inside.
When he challenged
them they ran off, leaving empty-handed.
The description of the man in the e-fit is:
- White
- Aged 24-27 years
- 5ft to 5ft 6ins tall
- Short dark brown hair
- Round plump face which was clean shaven
- Clean appearance
- Round eyes
- He spoke with an Irish accent
- He wore dark clothing, a pull over type top with
a light/dark jacket and dark bottoms.
DC Matt Taylor who is leading the investigation said: “This
was an attempted distraction burglary where an elderly
man was targeted. I urge anyone who may recognise
the man from the e-fit to come forward and name them,
as it could be an elderly relative of theirs who is
targeted in the future.”
