| Once again, the new bus shelter in Gorley Road has been the target of vandals.
The new shelter was installed by the Town Council on 31st March 2005 at a cost of £1660 following removal of the previous shelter which had suffered repeated vandalism and was no longer fit for the purpose.
Since then, the shelter has been attacked 3 times, as follows:
7th April – one large panel of glass smashed and replaced
12th June – one small panel of glass smashed
27th June – three panels of glass smashed (one large and two small)
This wanton vandalism has cost ordinary Council Tax payers hundreds of pounds.
The Town Council is now appealing to anyone who knows anything about this vandalism to contact them with details.
Danny Cracknell, Town Mayor said: “I am a great supporter of the young people of the town, but there is a minority giving them a bad name.
The shelter has been provided for the benefit of local people who make use of public transport, and I would urge anyone who knows anything about these incidents of vandalism to contact the Town Council.” |
