| Plans are now in place for two experimental road closures to be trialled in Quomp, in a bid to improve conditions for residents and road users, in particular pedestrians and cyclists.
This is in direct response to concerns expressed by residents about the volume of traffic using Quomp and the unsuitability of the road to cope with such use.
In addition, the Ringwood Walking & Cycling Group has identified Quomp as an important route for pedestrians and cyclists.
An Experimental Prohibition of Driving Order has now been made by New Forest District Council, which will come into operation on 21st March 2005.
The first trial closure will be placed in Quomp, between its junctions with Woodstock Lane and College Road, and will remain in place for approximately 4 months.
This closure will then be removed and a second experimental closure, at Quomp’s junction with Hightown Road, will be trialled.
Due to concerns raised by residents, a temporary Prohibition of Driving Order, except for access, will apply to Woodstock Lane during the period of the trial closures.
Anyone who wishes to comment on the experimental closures will have the chance to do so within the period of operation of each closure.
The District Council will consider all comments received before deciding whether to proceed with a permanent road closure order. |
