| Northfield Play Area is to be completely refurbished thanks to funding from Ringwood Town Council and the release of developers contributions by New Forest District Council.
The playground will be aimed at children up to the age of 8 and will be re-launched in March under the new name of ‘Toad Corner’.
The Town Council carried out a public consultation exercise to get views from local people on how they would like to see the play area improved.
Following on from this, a working party of councillors and parents was established to take the scheme forward and select the equipment to be installed.
The existing 2 pieces of equipment will be removed and replaced with 6 new pieces of equipment; a multi play unit including a slide, tunnel and climbing net, 2 sets of swings (junior and toddler), a see-saw, a sit-in spring mobile and a freestanding game panel. New wet pour safety surfacing will surround all equipment.
There will also be 2 new benches and a litterbin. New fencing and gates will be installed to ensure the safety of children using the playground.
Caroline Gill, a local resident and member of the Working Party said: “This playground is just what we’ve been waiting for. The plans for the new site look really exciting.
The equipment is all bright and colourful and we think it will be a big hit with toddlers and young children and of course, with their mums and dads!
We would like to thank Ringwood Town Council who listened to our views and put such a huge effort into redesigning and funding the playground.”
It is hoped that the refurbishment works will be completed in time for the Easter holidays. |
