Charges apply in most of New Forest District Council's town and village car parks. Residents and visitors can purchase a parking clock at a cost of £8 each year for short stay car parks or £80 (or £44 for six months) for long stay car parks.
A short stay clock (£8 for the year) will give you:
Parking for up to 3 hours in any of our town and village car parks
Parking for more than 3 hours in a long-stay bay when hours required over and above 3 are paid for on arrival by purchasing a ticket from the machine. (For example if you need 4 hours parking you would buy a 1 hour ticket and display it alongside your clock which you set at your time of arrival)
A long stay clock (£80 for a year or £44 for six months) will give you:
Parking in a short stay bay for up to three hours.
Parking in a long stay bay for more than three hours.
Parking in any of the council's amenity car parks on the coast.
Paying at the meter
Charges through the meter do vary slightly depending on which car park you are using. The average hourly charge is 50p and all day £3.50 but please check the exact charges displayed in the relevant car parks.
If you are a regular user of the Hythe Ferry or Lyndhurst or Beaulieu Community Centres, please ask for details of special schemes available.
