Community Library Link is a free service for people in sheltered accommodation, residential and nursing homes and day centres. Visits are made on a regular basis according to a pre-arranged timetable.
Residents are encouraged to come on to purpose-built vehicles and select their own material. An automatic lift allows easy access for frail or disabled people, including those who use walking frames or wheelchairs. Where illness or disability prevents access, staff carry out room visits and select materials based on their knowledge of individual needs. A Deposit Collection is provided at some Homes, usually in the lounge.
Community Library Link vehicles carry a range of materials to meet the diverse interests of our users, including novels in standard and large print, non-fiction books, audio books, reminiscence and local history materials, music cassettes and CDs, jigsaws and information leaflet. A free request service is also available providing access to the resources of the Library Service and wider afield, if necessary. Books on any subject can be requested, as well as spoken word cassettes and music.
Any item may be requested from the Fiction Books on Tape Catalogue and the Reminiscence Collection. Both catalogues are available for loan from the vehicle. |
