Ringwood YFA turns five

Young firefighters will be recognised for all their hard work at a anniversary presentation evening tomorrow night (Sept 21).

Ringwood firefighters have hosted the Young Firefighters Association (YFA) at their station in Christchurch Road for the past five years.

At present they have more than 20 young people engaged in the association and on Friday, September 21, they will be recognised for all their hard work.

The objective of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Young Firefighters Association is to recruit young people and allow them the opportunity to join a uniformed Youth Organisation.

The association assists in member’s development, both mentally and physically, while promoting self-discipline, social consciousness and community awareness.

It also fosters the spirit of adventure and develops qualities of leadership amongst members who ultimately go on to promote the Fire Service and increase awareness of Fire Safety.

Ringwood Fire Station Watch Manager, Kevin Morrison, said: “The YFA has been running in the New Forest for the past five years and has gone from strength to strength.

“This anniversary presentation is being held to thank all of those who have supported us over the past years and also to celebrate the successes of the young people who have been members.”
