Description

Services and activities offered: To promote and encourage the game of bowls, which offers a great outdoor sport that brings players together in a skilful and competitive recreation, which is both friendly and sociable.

Established in 1933 the club is less than 10 minutes walk from the town centre and has 6 rinks, two of which are available to the public when club members are present. We have ladies teams playing league games on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and men's teams playing league games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Saturday afternoons.

During the summer months (Mid April to late September) the club is open for bowling at 10:00 am, when members can practice in roll ups, and when we also play friendly games with touring and other local teams in the afternoons.

Club members also play in organised social games on Monday evenings, and we have internal club competitions that cater for all skill levels.

We have a pavilion and bar where members can meet over tea or coffee if they wish.

During the winter months we have indoor short mat bowling for those that wish to play a very social game in this format.

New members are always welcome and coaching is available for beginners.

We have an Open Day on Sunday 8 May 2011, when those wishing to try the sport can come along and have a go with the help of members.

Charges: Our subscription for 2011 is £115, plus £2 per league game, and £1 for any other game.

Members of the public pay £4 for 2 hours, which includes the loan of bowls and shoes, if required.
