The results are in for the seventh annual Bisterne Scarecrow Competition, which this year attracted a record 35 entries.

Entries include a man in the moon, Tom and Jerry, a woodcutter and Peppa Pig. The scarecrows are scattered all around the lanes of Bisterne and maps, which are sold for £1 each, can be obtained from Moortown Service Station, Tyrrells Ford Country Inn and prize sponsors Stewarts GardenLands at Somerford.

The money raised this year will go towards roof and wall insulation and replacement windows at Bisterne Village Hall.

The Champion Scarecrow this year was Anyone for Tennis? by Jocelyn and Ray Gratwick (pictured).

The other results are as follows:
Single Scarecrow:
1st The Woodcutter by Paul Coombes;
2nd Peppa Pig by Abigail and Imogen Brooks;
3rd Man in the Moon by Marcia Annie Thomas and Richard Cutler

Pair of Scarecrows:
1st Status Crow by Ruby Guy;
2nd Bisterne Tunnel by Tim Edgell;
3rd Once Upon a Time by Tabatha Morgan-Roberts and Finn, Dixey and Kit Rowden

Group of Scarecrows:
1st Anyone for Tennis? by Jocelyn and Ray Gratwick;
2nd That’s the Way To Do It by the Gowan family;
3rd Wurzell Tearooms by Derek Mitchell

Special Judges Awards went to Bisterne’s Got Talent by Gordon and Liz Crane and their grandchildren and Bush Tucker by the Stable Family Home Trust (Craft Group)

The 2010 display will commence on 22nd August and run to 6th September 2010.
